Conner earns doctorate
James R. Conner received a doctorate of medicine from the Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Ga. May 3.
Dr. Conner will join Baptist Health Systems in Birmingham in June as a resident in general surgery. He is a 1999 graduate of Newnan High School and a 2003 graduate of Auburn University. He is the son of Jim and Carolyn Conner of Newnan, Ga. and the grandson of Gwen Conner and the late Clint Conner of Eufaula and the late Dr. and Mrs. G. M. Pillippi of Camden.

Bagby to offer water aerobics
George T. Bagby State Park and Lodge will hold water aerobics classes June 23 - Aug. 27, Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. (EDT)
Admission is $10 per person for 10 weeks of classes. Classes will be taught by Terena Kenyion. For more information, call (229) 768-2571.

Fireworks festival set for Ft. Gaines
The Ft. Gaines Firecracker Festival will be held July 4, at the Corps of Engineers Office.
The event, sponsored by the Ft. Gaines Lions Club, will include a chicken barbecue at 11 a.m. (EDT), a car show from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. (EDT) and a fireworks display at sundown.

Barbour County students honored
Wallace Community College recently announced the president’s and dean’s lists for the 2008 spring semester. 
Students awarded to the president’s list must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours with a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0.  Eligibility for the dean’s list is based on a GPA of 3.5 or higher, with a minimum of 12 semester hours.
