Counseling set Aug. 19
A representative from the Small Business Development Center at Troy University will visit the Eufaula-Barbour Area Chamber of Commerce Tuesday, Aug. 19, to provide free counseling.
The counseling is available from 9:30 a.m. until noon.  Call 687-6664 to set up an appointment.
Troy University’s SBDC provides the counseling services monthly at the chamber’s resource center, which is maintained by the Small Business Administration.  In addition, a small library of various government publications is maintained at the center.  Publications will not be available for distribution, but forms for ordering the publications will be provided.

Ivey completes recent training
Barbour County Commissioner Patricia Ivey has graduated the Alabama Local Government Training Institute.
Ivey joined 80 current Alabama county commissioners with this distinction.
The County Commissioner Graduate Award will be presented to Ivey at a special ceremony during the 2008 annual conference of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama. Graduates of the program must complete at least 120 hours of detailed practical and applied course work involving all aspects of county leadership and administration.

Gulledge joins U.S. Army
Kerry P. Gulledge has joined the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program. 
The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year.
The enlistment gives the new soldier the option to learn a new skill, travel and become eligible to receive as much as $50,000 toward a college education.
After completion of basic military training, soldiers receive advanced individual training in their career job specialty prior to being assigned to their first permanent duty station.
The recruit qualifies for a $15,000 enlistment bonus.
Gulledge, a 2008 graduate of Dixie Academy in Louisville, will report to Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga., for basic training this month.
He is the son of Kerry and Edna Gulledge of Clayton.

Company chooses new president, CEO
Hendricks Building Supply has named Kent Hendricks as their president and CEO, effective Aug. 1.
Hendricks is a graduate of the University of Alabama and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He has been engaged in the building industry all of his working career, most recently serving as president and CEO of HB&G Building Products, the largest column manufacturer in the world. 
During his tenure at HB&G, Hendricks led the company in its growth pattern to become the largest and most well known column manufacturer in the world. During the past two years, Hendricks directed the acquisitions of Flex Trim Moulding Company, TurnKey Manufacturing and Dixie Pacific, a competitor in the column industry.
Hendricks has a location on North Eufaula Avenue.
