Mr. and Mrs. William Marcus Whaley of Eufaula announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Elizabeth, to Christopher Ashworth Vinson, Jr., son of Christopher and Sally Vinson, Sr., of Montgomery.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Joseph Louis Whaley and the late Grace Baldwin Whaley and of Ashton Ford and Myrtle Smith Johnson, all of Eufaula.
Miss Whaley is a 2001 honor graduate of Eufaula High School, and she graduated magna cum laude from Auburn University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accountancy.
At Auburn she served as treasurer of Beta Alpha Psi and was a member of the College of Business’s Executive Society, Alpha Kappa Psi and Phi Kappa Phi.
She is a certified public accountant and is employed as an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Birmingham.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. Willardy Ashworth Vinson of Montgomery and the late James Edward Vinson, Sr., of Clayton and of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas Bigger of Montgomery.
Mr. Vinson is a 2001 graduate of Jeff Davis High School in Montgomery. He graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama, with a degree in marketing and advertising and is employed as a mortgage loan officer with Compass Bank in Birmingham.
At Alabama he was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi. His social fraternity was Phi Delta Theta.
The wedding is planned for Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Eufaula.
