41 graduate from Andrew College

Blue and yellow flags in front of Old Main announced the 154th commencement exercises of Andrew College earlier this month. 
Emily Jean McAfee, board of trustees chair, Dr. David Seyle, president, and Dr. Vann Newkirk, academic dean, conferred associate degrees upon 41 Andrew College graduates as their friends and family proudly watched.
Following the welcome by McAfee, Dr. Seyle introduced commencement speaker Dr. Ruth Knox, president of Wesleyan College.  Dr. Knox is the first alumna to serve as president of Wesleyan. 
Dr. Knox shared her experiences of travel after graduating from college and encouraged each graduate to experience life and to share those experiences with family and those close to them.
At the direction of Dr. Newkirk, each Andrew graduate accepted their diploma and shook hands with Dr. Seyle before exiting the stage.
Dr. Seyle then recognized the 2008 Andy Award recipients and presented the Andy Award for Academic Achievement. The Andy Awards are academic honors presented each spring during Honor’s Day for leadership, service and achievement. 
The Andy Award for Academic Achievement is presented at the end of the graduation ceremony to the student that has the highest grade point average at Andrew College. 
The top academic honor went to Jon Donald Henry of East Dublin, Ga.
Henry maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA while attending Andrew. 
Henry received a standing ovation from the audience. 
The Andy Award for leadership went to Tierra Kirkland of Sylvania.
The Andy Award for service went to Clint Murchland from Snellville. The Andy Award for Achievement went to Nina Robinson of Douglasville.
