A female victim of a car crash had to be air lifted out of Barbour County for treatment on Sunday night.

The Eufaula Fire and Rescue responded to the call at approximately 10:30 p.m. Lt. Will Slade reported on Thursday that the woman’s vehicle crashed near the first bridge on Gammage Road traveling north.

She was apparently ejected from the vehicle by the force of the collision and sustained a severe head injury.

Emergency personnel had to land the Lifesaver helicopter on the bridge in order to transport the patient.

“It was a perfect landing pad once we got a couple of vehicles to shine their lights on the bridge from each side,” said Slade. He also reported that the woman was still in intensive care.
