Car thefts possibly connected
Three vehicles were stolen in Eufaula between Monday and Wednesday in separate incidents that police say could possibly be connected.
The first vehicle, a 2001 Buick Century, was stolen from the Goody’s parking lot Monday night. The vehicle was later recovered by law enforcement personnel.
Another vehicle, a 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis, was reported stolen from the Winn-Dixie parking lot Wednesday night. The car belonged to an employee and had not been recovered as of Thursday morning.
The latest theft occurred Wednesday night at the Liberty gas station. A 2001 Chevy Tahoe was stolen and had not been recovered as of Thursday morning.
Chief Investigator Ronnie Dollar stated Thursday that two of the vehicles stolen were left running while the owner went into a store.
“We certainly recommend that you don’t do this, even for just a minute because it makes you an easy target to get your vehicle stolen,” said Dollar.
He also said that the location of the three crimes has led investigators to believe the three incidents were connected.
“But you never know until you get down into it, and we’re still investigating it at this time,” he said.
