The United Way of Greater Barbour County has found a familiar face to serve as executive director.
Glenn Kasper will join the local UW chapter as executive director, board president Mike Saxon announced this week in an e-mail.
“Glenn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this newly created position.  I firmly believe this will put the United Way of Greater Barbour County on the road to continued success for years to come,” Saxon said in an e-mail sent to board members.
Kasper was most recently executive director of the Eufaula Heritage Association. A reception was held Wednesday to honor Glenn and his wife Beth, who also worked with the association.
Kasper enjoyed his time with the EHA, and is eagerly looking forward to his new job. He will serve as a “liaison” between UW board members, local businesses and non-profit organizations.
“I know a lot of people from my time at Shorter Mansion,” Kasper said Wednesday.
“It will be good to do something to help benefit the community. The vast majority of money raised by United Way is given to local charities.”
While the position is part-time, Kasper predicts he’ll be especially busy his first year as he adjusts to the new position.
“But I have a good board of directors, so I’ll be able to pick their brains,” he said.
United Way of Greater Barbour County aids several non-profit organizations that serve Barbour County. They include: Alabama Cooperative Extension-4H, American Red Cross, Barbour County Literacy Association, Boys & Girls Club, Boy Scouts, Christ Child Circle, Clearing House, Clio Senior Citizens, Eufaula Day Care, Girl Scouts, House of Ruth, Barbour County Humane Society, Retired Senior Volunteers Program (RSVP), Wiregrass Mental Health Board and Clayton Senior Center.
