Ivey questioned by Wood
Ronnie Ivey and Tina Robinett Wood are both running for the District 4 position on the Clio town council.
And both agree that they’re running because they’d like to see change on the Clio town council.
But Wood believes her opponent, Ivey, doesn’t qualify to be a candidate. She says Ivey doesn’t live in the District 4 area, which includes Brundidge Street and the west end of Clio. She claims Ivey doesn’t even live in Barbour County - that he has a Newville address. She points to a telephone directory where a Ronnie Ivey is listed as residing in Newville.
“He’s claiming his mother’s address (in Clio),” Wood said.
Ivey, however, says that, though his mother-in-law lives in Newville, he has a District 4 address on Brundidge Street. He also says that he wants no controversy during his campaign.
“I’m going to run a clean campaign,” said Ivey. “I don’t want to get in a shouting match.”
The final day for candidates to qualify for the Clio town council elections is July 15. The election is Aug. 26.
