The Eufaula Darlings have played Troy twice this year.
They’ve won both meetings.
Eufaula will need a third win against Troy to stay alive in Sub-District B play in Troy. The teams squared off Monday night in an elimination game. Results were not available at press time, but will be published in Friday’s edition of the Eufaula Tribune.
In the previous two meetings, Eufaula has scored a combined 54 runs, including a 27-12 win against Troy Friday night in the opening round of the tournament.
“We hit the ball exceptionally well,” Eufaula head coach Keith Spivey said. “As a rule you can only have 10 batters hit in an inning and I don’t think there was a single inning that we didn’t have 10 batters go to the plate.
“There may have been one, but I think we had 10 batters each inning. We hit the ball hard, and then we played very good defense. Troy put the ball in play, but our girls made plays.
“You couldn’t ask for a much better game.”
Sydney Williams, Jodie Spivey, Brooke Morris, Maggie Caldwell, Hunter Lynn, Ahveon Richardson, Annie Laura Clayton and Lindsey Andrews were each 3-for-3 at the plate in the win.
Eufaula was knocked into the losers’ bracket by a 24-13 loss to Brantley Saturday.
“We came out a little flat,” Keith Spivey said. “Brantley just outplayed us. We didn’t play bad, but we didn’t play as well as we can. I have to give Brantley credit, though.
“They hit the ball hard. They didn’t hit little dribblers, and then they made plays on the balls we hit. You have to give credit where it’s due, and they deserve the credit for beating us. If we can beat Troy, we’ll get another shot at them and I think we’ll have a good chance to win the game if we play like we are capable of playing.”
Jodie Spivey and Caldwell were each 3-for-3 in the loss to Brantley.
Morris, Richardson, Clayton and Andrews were all 2-for-3.
